MacKID Pittsburgh Publishers recently had the privilege of attending the launch party at the new Museum of Illusions in Pittsburgh, and we can't wait to share the exciting details with you! As the second-largest Museum of Illusions location in the United States, this museum, set to open to the public on Thursday, promises a journey through mind-bending exhibits that blur the lines between reality and illusion.
With a maximum capacity of 200 people, the Museum of Illusions Pittsburgh offers an intimate and immersive "edutainment" experience for all. From the moment you step through its doors, you're transported into a world where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, thanks to a carefully curated collection of interactive exhibits that blend art, science, and psychology. After 2 years of strategic planning, the Museum of Illusions' concept to offer visitors the perfect mix of education and entertainment through various interactive and photogenic exhibits and rooms of illusion has finally come to fruition on Pittsburgh's North Side.
During the launch party, I had the pleasure of chatting with Kenny McKernan, Sales & Marketing Coordinator for Museum of Illusions Pittsburgh, and asked him if he had three things he wanted people to know about the Museum, what would it be? Kenny highlighted three key aspects that make the Museum of Illusions a must-visit:
1. The Vortex Room:
Among the myriad of exhibits, the Vortex Room is a must-see, according to Kenny. This mind-bending space challenges your perception, creating an immersive experience that leaves you questioning the very fabric of reality. Brace yourself before entering!
2. Versatility for Events:
Not only is the Museum of Illusions a captivating tourist attraction with its perfect mix of education and entertainment through interactive and photogenic exhibits and rooms of illusion, but it also serves as a dynamic venue for any type of event you could think of. Whether it's a social gathering, corporate event, field trip, or even a wedding, the museum's flexibility ensures that every occasion becomes a magical and memorable one.
3. Fun Atmosphere:
His third point rolled off Kenny's tongue without hesitation, "We're fun!" The museum is not just about illusions; it's about making memories in a fun environment. The energetic atmosphere created by the staff adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the entire experience, making it clear that a visit to the Museum of Illusions is definitely something you want to add to your Pittsburgh Fun Bucket List!
Museum of Illusions is a global phenomenon, with over 40 locations worldwide. Originally launched in Zagreb in 2015, the founders, Roko Živković and Tomislav Pamuković, aimed to introduce the concept of edutainment. The museum has since become the largest chain of private museums globally, offering a perfect blend of education and entertainment through interactive exhibits and illusionary rooms.
Jonathan Benjamin, CEO of the Museum of Illusions, describes it as a collection of mind-altering exhibits that challenge your sense of reality. The hands-on approach encourages visitors to interact with the exhibits, creating an experiential museum that is part of a global trend.
Some highlights of the Museum of Illusions include the Infinity Room, where mirrors create an illusion of boundless space, and the Ames Room, where distorted perspective plays tricks on your perception of size. The museum also features holograms and 3D art that leap off the canvas, providing a truly immersive visual experience.
Museum of Illusions Pittsburgh aims to entertain, educate, and inspire visitors by offering a deeper understanding of the complexities of human perception. It's an opportunity to explore the mysteries of vision, the science of light, and the power of the human brain in a playful and interactive environment. If you find yourself looking for fun things to do in Pittsburgh, be sure to head to the North Shore to embark on a journey that will challenge your perception and ignite your imagination.
